Christine Mitchell

Christine Mitchell

Christine is HIP’s Health Instead of Punishment Program Director. She is committed to the work of dismantling carceral systems of oppression and envisioning a world where people and communities have the resources they need to thrive and transform, without relying on policing or punishment as a response to harm. At HIP, she appreciates the opportunity to partner with grassroots organizations doing liberative work on the ground to expose the ways that incarceration and policing are harmful to health and to build what Ruth Wilson Gilmore refers to as “life-affirming institutions” in their stead.

Christine lives in Massachusetts, where she was also born and raised. She organizes with abolitionist coalitions locally and nationally and loves watching the Boston Red Sox, making music, and spending time with her niblings.
